POKOTABI / Tosaya
とさや
Located in Kyoto's Komatsubara Kitamachi, Tosaya is an izakaya serving drink-friendly small plates, from aromatic straw-seared bonito tataki to chilled tofu topped with fragrant bonito flakes.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Straw-seared over an open flame for a fragrant char, bonito tataki is the signature dish to order as soon as you step through the curtains at Tosaya. Enjoyed with thinly sliced onions and fragrant dried bonito flakes, it delivers the robust, punchy flavors typical of Tosa-style cooking. The savory umami of the shaved bonito also pairs naturally with chilled tofu, a refreshing small plate that works well between bites of the seared fish.
An accessible lineup of drinks, including beer and wine, makes it easy to unwind and linger over food. Tosaya is open from 18:00 to 23:00 in the evening every day except Sunday, and accepts advance bookings. The interior maintains a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Please note that payment is cash only, so it is wise to come prepared.
